Welcome from the Headteacher
I would like to extend a very warm welcome to Ickford School, a friendly, ambitious and outstanding school set in the heart of West Buckinghamshire countryside in the picturesque village of Ickford.
This is an outstanding school and we became an Academy in 2016. The children are at the heart of everything we do and come from a wide area including: Ickford, Shabbington, Worminghall, Tiddington, Oakley and from places further afield such as: Thame, Princes Risborough and Ludgershall.
Parents value the high standards that you promote in everything that the school does, and cherish the nurturing and caring side of the school. As one parent wrote, summing up the views of many,
"Ickford may be a small school but it is hugely ambitious. The standard of teaching and the quality of work produced is astonishing. The children are taught the value of hard work, dedication, perseverance, respect and kindness.” (Ofsted 2018)
We value each child as having individual abilities, gifts and needs and encourage all of our pupils to reach their full potential academically, personally and socially. Our pupils are extremely well behaved, polite and care for each other and their environment and our school is full of happy pupils inspired by the challenges we provide for them.
The teachers at Ickford are highly qualified and conscientious and work hard to ensure that our curriculum is broad, stimulating and engaging for all of our pupils. We have excellent support staff and superb facilities, allowing us to enrich the curriculum with an abundant range of extra-curricular activities including many sports, art and craft, chess, ballet and other dance forms.
We have an active Parent Teacher Association who meet regularly in the school to arrange events throughout the school year. Their efforts and activities raise several hundreds of pounds that go towards making our school environment a special place.
At Ickford, we have very high expectations of each other and the children. Our uniform is important to us and we expect it to be worn properly and hopefully, with pride. Our children embody our school values and good manners and consideration for others are the norm throughout the school.
Although we place a great emphasis on standards of Numeracy, Literacy and Science and have repeatedly achieved outstanding results, we are also determined to make ours a rich and diverse curriculum. Our music is superb, and we are fortunate to have brilliant music teachers to enthuse and inspire our children. The same can be said for languages and every child, from the very youngest, learns to speak French as part of the normal curriculum with opportunities to learn Latin and German in Year 6.
